Strawberries!!

Here are a few pictures of when Andy got to come home before he deployed.

We went to the strawberry patch today! They had all kinds of fun things to do and see there. All Jenna could talk about was the strawberries...until she saw the animals. She LOVES animals and critters. She also loves strawberries so I think today was probably almost a perfect day in her eyes. :) The only thing missing was her daddy!

MOPS Singers

Here are the MOPS 2's and 3's singing for the moms at our last meeting for the season. Just in case you didn't know, Jenna is the one in the white sweater. Jenna's best friend and neighbor is the little angel who starts crying about 6 minutes in. Poor Makaila! And then Ezra is the fake cryer at the end. Too funny!

I thought today's Portals of Prayer was perfect for me and my other friends whose husbands are also deployed.

Devotional Reading for: 5/12/2009

Associated Scripture Readings: Matthew 6:25-34Psalm 131

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25

Do Not Be Anxious
I remember my first day of college. New people, new city, new routine—it was exciting but a bit overwhelming as well. During the opening service in the chapel, the campus pastor prayed this prayer: “Lord God, You have called Your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that Your hand is leading us and Your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ, our Lord” (LSB, p. 311). That’s exactly how I was feeling! The prayer echoes our Lord’s words in Matthew. We are anxious about our lives. We experience trials and temptations. But there’s no need to be anxious. The Lord is taking care of us. Look at the birds of the air. He provides for them; yet how much more does our Father love us? He loves us so much more that He gave us His Son! We trust in God. So do not be anxious, dear Christian. The Lord has promised to provide, and He will keep His promise.

Lord God, grant us peace and comfort when we are anxious, for You have promised to care for us. Amen.

Jenna wanted to touch everything! She would have gotten in there with those critters if she had been allowed.
